Charoite is a rare silicate mineral found only in one location worldwide, the Shkha Republic, Siberia, Russia. It is named after the Chara River, which is actually some 90 miles away from where it's found. Its beautiful purple color and chatoyancy makes it very popular as cabochons. Charoite's patterns can be stunning! High grade rough is pricey to buy in the US.
